ACEs, ACEs Everywhere…But Are We on the Brink?

Last week, many people around the world closed the door on 2012 and celebrated the arrival of a new year.  2013 marks the 15th anniversary of the publication of the original Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Study findings in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine by Dr.’s Vince Felitti, Roberta Anda, and six other researchers: a study that changed long-held and accepted wellness paradigms in the United States, and challenged the models upon which many of our public and human service systems were founded.

Philadelphia Nonprofit to Receive $40,000 in Funding for Providing Innovative Access to Healthcare

GlaxoSmithKline has announced that the Institute for Safe Families (www.instituteforsafefamilies.org) of Philadelphia is a GlaxoSmithKline 16th Annual IMPACT Award recipient. The Philadelphia nonprofit will receive $40,000 for having a significant impact on its community by providing access to proactive and effective healthcare services.

The Institute for Safe Families (ISF), a Philadelphia based non-profit organization dedicated to preventing family violence and child abuse, has been awarded a $156,120 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to investigate the extent of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) among Philadelphians and to plan for a sustainable ACE-informed care infrastructure.
